TRACE ACADEMIA OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES FREE ONLINE VOCATIONAL TRAINING PLATFORM IN SOUTH AFRICA

FRENCH MINISTER INAUGURATES THE LAUNCH OF
TRACE ACADEMIA

Trace, in the presence of the honourable French Minister Elisabeth Moreno and South African partners, today formally announced the inauguration of Trace Academia in South Africa, and the signing of a protocol of cooperation between Trace, Senghor University in Egypt, and Agence Française de Développement (AFD), to create a training programme to develop and support the professionalization of the creative and cultural sector in Africa.

Elisabeth Moreno, the Minister for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities (travelling as part of the French presidential visit to South Africa this week) together with the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Trace, Olivier Laouchez and Trace Academia Co-MD, Prejlin Naidoo, launched the company’s latest youth empowerment programme.

Trace Academia is a free online vocational training platform built for young South Africans looking to build their skills to find or create jobs. Created in response to the high rate of youth unemployment in South Africa and the continent, Trace Academia will focus on empowerment through educating and training young people.

More than 50% of Africa’s population is under 25 years old. The youth are struggling with the effects of a longstanding economic and psychological crisis. The reach of the global pandemic has further accelerated the need for new approaches to education.

Trace Academia courses are created in collaboration with leading companies, institutions and experts to ensure that the skills provided are well matched to market needs. A localised, interactive and entertaining course format keeps the learner’s attention and significantly improves course completion rate.

Trace Academia will primarily target young South Africans in its inaugural year. The platform will launch with several locally produced training courses including Get Started with Digital Marketing (Grow with Google), How to Become a DJ (Trace), Spark your Interest in Electricity (Schneider Electric), Become a Successful Entrepreneur (Valued Citizens & UJ), Become a Real Handyman (Leroy Merlin) and Own Your Situation (Durex). Trace Academia will take the learner through the journey towards skill acquisition.

The Trace Academia platform will offer:

  • Vocational Training
  • Entrepreneurial courses
  • Soft Skill and Well Being courses
  • Social Learning Features
  • Job Information

Learning Engagement – Engaging content keeps the learners’ attention and maximises completion
Testing and Certification – Course certified by industry leaders providing credibility and applicability
Employment OpportunitiesLearners are connected to an ecosystem of employment enablers

With the mammoth goal of training over 25 million youth by 2025, Trace Academia aims to develop hundreds of courses to help empower these young people to become employable or become employers.

Part of the launch centred on the signing of a protocol of cooperation between the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Senghor University in Egypt and Trace to establish a partnership to support the development and professionalisation of the cultural and creative sector in Africa through the Trace Academia programme. AFD’s financing of €650k will cover a training course dedicated to understanding the challenges of the sector and providing workable solutions. The learning content of the training is to be developed through this partnership between Senghor University in Egypt, Trace and Campus AFD, AFD’s training centre.

‘To build Trace Academia, we’ve combined our expertise and experience in entertainment with cutting edge learning approaches adapted to the realities and cultures of Africa. The young people we have worked with in building the platform find the content highly engaging. In fact, in a recent study of 17-25 year olds in SA, Kenya and Nigeria, 96% said the app would motivate them to further their education or improve their employment prospects. We believe that Trace Academia has the potential to positively impact the lives of millions of young people in South Africa and across the continent,’ stated Trace Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Olivier Laouchez.

Due to the high youth unemployment rate in South Africa, it was important for Trace to introduce the Trace Academia project as a getaway to Trace’s mission of entertaining and empowering young people to stand up and shine.

Trace Academia is set to be launched in the rest of the world by the end of this year, with more courses to be produced with leading companies, institutions and experts globally.
The Trace Academia application can be downloaded on the Apple App store and Google Play store.

YOUDEH APP BRINGS YOU CLOSER TO YOUR CELEBS!

Gone are the days where you have to rush to a mall or event in hopes of trying to get the attention of your favourite celebrity. Imagine having access to some of Mzansi’s top media personalities at your every whim!

Your wish is YouDeh’s command! This tech-savy app has launched and is giving you an opportunity to have direct guaranteed access to A-Listers at the click of a button, right inthe comfort of your own space.

YouDeh app is international and allows users to connect with people around the world that would be “hard to reach” through paid-for-private meeting requests called, parties. This is a first for social media as one does not have to hold their breath in hopes or frustration to try and get the attention of the ones they support for different reasons.

With the world having advanced in its adoption of various technologies, there had to be a way to help minimize the effect of the global pandemic, Covid-19 on the entertainment industry using technology. This gave birth to YouDeh as in “Hey, are you deh?” Get it?

YouDeh is introduced to the world by two forward thinking business men who are information technology specialists, Thulani Ngwenya and Aubrey Modise. The pair who have partnered with Mzansi’s top star, DJ Tira are set on shaking things up by making the almost impossible, possible. The world at your finger tips.

Talking about the app, founder Thulani said; “A lot of entertainers found themselves without income when Covid-19 hit and communities were forced to go on lock-down. This was mostly due to the fact that physical events were shut and therefore no bookings for MCing, performances and appearances. It is a safe and fun space to broaden our world while keeping us connected.”

Co-founder Aubrey emphasized: “With YouDeh, entertainers can continue earning great alternative income even after Covid-19 is long gone. Ordinary users are also given the opportunity to connect with the people they admire.”

DJ Tira added: “This is the future and I am glad to be part of such a revolution. YouDeh is the way to go”.

You simply download the YouDeh app, via Apple App Store or Google Play Store, > Create a profile > Set your rates -> Watch the magic happen as you connect to your star once your meeting has been confirmed.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For instance, a celebrity can say “I will charge $10 for my 5 minutes”, (Every user is a celebrity on the YouDeh app)• When someone would like to have a private video call with that celeb, they’d login on the app, create a party request of type meeting. • Invite that particular celeb = When inviting the celeb, the user would indicate for how long. If they say 5 minutes for instance, the app will notify them that the celeb will charge them $10. If they agree, they will then make the payment from their wallets on the app. (Users can top up their wallets using credit/debit cards or PayPal)• The celeb will receive the request on the app which they can either reject or approve. • Should they approve, the requestor will receive a notification, and when the time comes both the requestor and the celeb connect via a private video call on the app. • After the call, the funds are paid into the celeb’s wallet on the app within 24 hours. The celeb can either use the funds to request other users’ time or withdraw the funds via PayPal. All rates are charged at USD as it is an international app.

It is Important to note that the celebs’ contact details are never compromised as there is no sharing of their emails or contact numbers, unless they voluntarily do so during the private calls. These calls are neither recorded nor stored on the app.

This creation is not only limited to celebrities and their fans but is a playground for anybody with time to sell. For example, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, tutors, and even sangomas. canuse it for consultations as the scope is endless.

So don’t wait any longer, download YouDeh today and start connecting.

Apple Music Up Next artist South Africa announced as Valley Sixteen

Capetonian singer and producer, Valley Sixteen (real name Gabi du Plessis) is the latest Apple Music Up Next South Africa artist. The South Africa program, which launched in early 2021 is a local version of their global emerging artist platform geared towards identifying and showcasing rising talent.

“I can’t even explain how much it means to me to be an Apple Music Up Next artist. I have followed the journeys of each and every Up Next artist since 2015, and if I could go back in time and tell my 15-year-old self that one day that would be her, she would never have believed me,” the singer tells Apple Music.

“To have an opportunity to reach so many new people with my music is all I’ve ever wanted. The journey so far has been a collection of many highs and lows, but I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the Apple Music South Africa team believing in me. This is a moment in time that I’ll never be able to forget, and to be in such great company is absolutely surreal. I can’t wait for what’s to come.”

After a stinging comment, made about her voice at the age of 17, saw her exit Idols SA, du Plessis found herself with no real understanding of who she was musically. But after time spent honing her skills by writing hit songs for other artists, du Plessis’ reintroduction to the industry under the moniker of Valley Sixteen sees her triumphantly return to her infectious pop roots.

Recorded on apartment floors in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Munich, Valley Sixteen’s debut EP, Apartment Flaws, is a tour de force release intended to silence her critics, tackling matters of the heart (“Borderline”, “Sad Eyes”) and mental health (“Fake”), while acknowledging how far she’s come on her journey of self discovery.

As the latest Up Next artist to be spotlighted in South Africa, Valley Sixteen will be featured across Apple Music’s South African Up Next playlist https://apple.co/3eITdJd. The curated playlist features a dynamic class of new and emerging artists, thoughtfully hand-picked by Apple Music editors from around the world. The playlist is genre agnostic and represents a line-up of artists that the editors are passionate about and eager to expose to a larger audience.

The vast global Up Next roster of past talent includes Grammy-nominated and critically lauded talent like 6lack, Daniel Caesar, H.E.R., Greta Van Fleet, Khalid, Amy Shark, Billie Eilish, Sabrina Claudio, Sigrid, Mr Eazi, Stefflon Don, Bad Bunny, Juice WLRD, Bazzi, Jax Jones, NCT 127, Summer Walker, Tierra Whack, Dean Lewis, Pink Sweat$, Koffee, Megan Thee Stallion, Burna Boy, Clairo, Lunay, Jessie Reyez, Orville Peck, Victoria Monét, Ingrid Andress, Conan Gray, Don Toliver, Rema, BENEE, Holly Humberstone, Natanael Cano, Givēon, beabadoobee, Arlo Parks and Tate McRae.

Bensoul on being mentored by Sauti Sol
<div class=”mezzanine-player”style=”position: relative; padding-top: 0; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 100%; overflow: hidden;”>http://a%20href=</div>

It’s such a beautiful feeling. I get to learn so much, but even just interacting with most of them. They’re really amazing human beings apart from being amazing musicians. And yeah, they are big brothers. They’re always guiding us and we have this relationship where we make each other better. And the few years that I’ve spent with them, being under their label, it’s been life-changing for sure.

Bensoul on why he wrote “Stereo”
<div class=”mezzanine-player”style=”position: relative; padding-top: 0; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 100%; overflow: hidden;”>http://a%20href=</div>

Bensoul: The song speaks about the first days of falling in love and you’ve just met-

Cuppy: The honeymoon period before it goes wrong.

Bensoul: Yeah, yeah, the honeymoon period. The love is so sweet, you guys are going on dates and that love feels so stereo you know, it hits you from all the sides, and that’s the reason why I wrote the song.

Nviiri The Storyteller’s proverb
<div class=”mezzanine-player”style=”position: relative; padding-top: 0; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 100%; overflow: hidden;”>http://a%20href=</div>

It says: “Alcohol and cigarettes I can easily do without. When it comes to women, it’s a curse.” So I’m basically just talking about different addictions, but then away from all addictions, you get an addiction, which is literally just curse. It’s upon you – you can’t get rid of it.
